Cruising With Your Family On Royal Caribbean International

A cruise vacation gives families a chance to spend time together and create memories while exploring exciting new places. Every year, more and more families are sailing with Royal Caribbean International. There’s always something fun to do, from Royal Caribbean classics like the rock wall to the Adventure Ocean and Fisher- Price Kids’ programs. When the ship is in port, the “Explorations” shore excursions turn every destination into a family-friendly adventure. Check out our features and activities and start planning your next vacation with Royal Caribbean today!

Family Destinations and Shore & Land Excursions
CocoCay and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private destinations, have all the makings for a perfect family adventure. Both islands offer pristine beaches and spectacular scenery, but kids will be most fascinated by state-of-the-art Aqua Parks and Labadee Luc’s Splash Bash. Older kids might enjoy parasailing and snorkeling as well, or get the whole gang together for organized family beach activities. Kids ages 3 to 8, accompanied by their parents, can experience a special driving adventure on the Fisher-Price Power Wheels® Track, featured on CocoCay. With the huge variety of Shore & Land Excursions offered at all Royal Caribbean destinations, you’re sure to find many that are suitable for the entire family.

Adventure Ocean
Adventure Ocean is a complimentary program of fun and educational activities open to all guests’ ages 3-17. Children are separated by age: 3 to 5; 6 to 8; 9 to 11; 12 to 14; and 15 to 17. Your child will get to learn about local customs, do cool science experiments and make great new friends. The 12 to 14 and 15 to 17 Adventure Ocean groups allow teens the freedom to come and go as they please for sports, themed parties, movie nights, and more. Teens can also meet and relax in the laid back Living Room Lounge, or dance late into the night at “Fuel”, our teen only nightclub.
To participate in Adventure Ocean, children must be three years of age and potty trained (no pull-ups or diapers). You can feel confident leaving your children with us because every member of our Adventure Ocean staff holds a college degree in education, recreation, or a related field and has experience working with children ages 3 to 17. All are certified in CPR.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry. For our youngest guests, we offer a kid’s menu featuring all their favorites: pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, mac and cheese, and peanut butter. Kids also have their own beverage programs. The Unlimited Soda Package lets them purchase a fountain soda package so they can enjoy as many fountain sodas as they want.

On selected nights, our youth staff hosts’ dinners in our casual restaurants. It’s a great opportunity for kids to eat with other kids and for parents to enjoy a meal alone.

Time for Mom and Dad. As a vacation for the whole family, Royal Caribbean also provides quiet time for Mom and Dad. That can be during the day, while the kids are at their own Adventure Ocean programs, or at night, while the kids are with babysitters. Babysitting is offered both in a group setting, and individually in your stateroom. In stateroom babysitting must be booked through the Guest Relations Desk (Purser’s Desk) at least 24 hours in advance. It cannot be booked prior to the cruise vacation and there is no guarantee that sitters will be available. The service is offered when personnel is available.

Approximate Rate: $10.00 per hour for one or two children within the same family or $15.00 per hour for three children with in the same family. Times and prices are subject to change without notice. Payment must be made in cash.

Throughout your family vacation, we ask that your children respect the other guests onboard by not playing unsupervised on deck, in the lounges or on the dance floor, especially in the evening.

Please note: Due to Public Health regulations, children in diapers, swim diapers, pull ups, or who are not COMPLETELY toilet trained are not allowed in the pools, whirlpools, or H2O zone.

On the “Freedom of the Seas” and “Liberty of the Seas” ships, children in diapers, or who are not toilet-trained may use the “Baby Splash Zone” specially designated for them.

Be The First To Explore The Oasis of the Seas by RCCL

I have never met the man, but I can only imagine that Mr. Adam Goldstein, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, has the creativity and sensibility of such people as Walt Disney and Mr. J.M Barrie, author of Peter Pan. As far as being an Industrialist, there are far too many people I could possibly compare him to.

After years of planning, research and gathering from around the world the global talents, Royal Caribbean developed and is putting the final touches on, their brand new Cruise Ship “The Oasis of the Seas”.

This will be the largest Cruise Ship in the world with a total passenger capacity of 5,400 quests, 2,700 staterooms and 7 neighborhood theme areas, on 16 decks.

In my opinion, this ship or floating “town” combines the best combination of selected neighborhoods that all generations may enjoy. The last “neighborhood” is now known as “The Youth Zone”. This neighborhood is devoted to children from the age of 6 months to 17 years.  Each program is tailored to the appropriate age range:

  • Royal Babies (6 to 18 months)
  • Royal Tots (18 to 36 months)
  • Aquanauts (3 to 5 years)
  • Explorers (6 to 8 years)
  • Voyagers (9 to 11 years)
  • Teens (12 to 17 years)

In developing and expanding these child-friendly programs, the adult members of the families can enjoy the cruise experience and have the Peace of mind that their children will be properly entertained and cared for. Yje are given the opportunity to enjoy “quality time” together.

Even though I do not wear a hat, I “take my hat of to Mr. Goldstein”, for your vision and the incredible staff and talent to build such a vessel.

The inaugural sailing will depart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Dec 12th, 2009.

Check your calendar for the week of Dec 12, 2009.  If you have the time available, why not book your cruise on the inaugural voyage of The Oasis of the Seas, you are sure to have a memorable cruise.

The best thing about the Teen program is that it’s not structured.  You can join events all day, or come and go as you want.
